Contact Form Not Working? It might be Yahoo’s fault and Blueprint Groupe Discovered This Solution…

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

So we have a client who insists on staying with their hosting provider, Yahoo, and all of a sudden their contact form was not working.

So after hours and hours of research I have found out the problem and a solution.

If you are unfortunate enough to have a client’s site or your own site hosted on Yahoo they do not accept third party php scripts. However, there is a work around to get your contact form working.

All you need to do is clear off the code that says:

From: $email

If you don’t clear that code the only email address that will be accepted as a valid email address in the contact form will be emails that come from the domain name of the website. Example being:

example@example.com OR whatever@theDomainTheContactFormIsOn.com

This can be a serious pain in the ass (it was for me today) and if possible I would suggest not using Yahoo to host your domain and to switch to a better hosting provider.

Sincerely,

the Fixer-Guy Guru of the week (hahaha)

Marketing Vs Advertising

Simply put… Marketing is anything and everything that is done to develop a business’s brand. To have effective marketing there must first be a brand to market! Marketing develops a business’s brand in many ways to deliver the business’s primary message and attitude to the public. Effective marketing encourages, inspires, and causes the public to act and utilize a business’s solution for a need that is present in the market place.

Advertising is how a business promotes their properly marketed products and services to the market. Businesses can advertise using newspapers, magazines, television, radio, promotions, and the internet to attract their target market. Effective advertising is a piece of a whole marketing strategy. Advertising is never separate from marketing simply because whenever a business advertises it is either supporting or not supporting the primary message and that defines the business. Effective promotions are advertisements that highlight specific aspects of a business and still manage to deliver the consistent attitude and message that defines the business as a whole.
